Helping Cancer Patients Save Their Hair, Their Dignity During Chemotherapy

We're on a mission to educate and expand access to scalp cooling for cancer patients who need it most, because keeping your hair through chemo shouldn't depend on the size of you wallet. In partnership with HairToStay, a 501(c)(3), we spread awareness and raise money to help low-income cancer patients afford scalp cooling therapy - a treatment that can reduce chemo induced alopecia and promote regrowth.

About Us!

Founded by Justin, a 17-year-old high school senior in Lake Worth, Florida, after watching his Mom face breast cancer in 2024, Cap My Crown removes the financial barrier that keeps many patients from this option. Because no one should have to choose between medical care and keeping their crown.Cap My Crown helps cancer patients access scalp-cooling treatment so they can reduce chemotherapy-related hair loss and preserve their confidence during treatment.

What Is Scalp Cooling for Chemotherapy Patients?

Scalp cooling (also called cold capping) is a treatment used during chemotherapy to help reduce hair loss. It works by wearing a special cooling cap before, during, and after chemo sessions. The cold lowers the temperature of the scalp, which reduces blood flow and limits how much chemotherapy reaches the hair follicles - helping reduce hair loss during treatment. For many cancer patients, losing their hair is one of the most emotional and visible side effects of chemotherapy. Scalp cooling offers a way to keep their hair, confidence, and sense of identity during an incredibly difficult time. However, scalp cooling is expensive and is rarely covered by insurance. Treatments can cost thousands of dollars, putting it out of reach for many patients who could benefit from it.Cap My Crown is a nonprofit initiative dedicated to helping cancer patients afford scalp cooling so they can keep their hair during chemotherapy. Every $1000 raised helps a patient save their crown.

Why It Matters:

Chemotherapy often attacks fast-growing cells like cancer cells - but it can’t tell the difference between those and hair follicle cells. That’s why hair loss happens. Scalp cooling gives hair follicles some protection so patients can keep more of their hair and a sense of normalcy through a tough journey.

Bottom Line:

It doesn’t guarantee no hair loss for everyone, but many people experience significantly less hair loss, making chemo a little easier to face. Also, it is known to promote regrowth.
